Then about two-thirds of the way through viajerp book, it became less interesting to me, I lost interest in what happening to dep characters, and never finished it.

So much must have been lost in the english translation there were too many moments when one has to stop to cringe ; ironic given its subject.
In addition to these salon discussions, woven throughout the book are passages that capture the plight of workers, especially seen through the eyes of two secondary characters: Dec 15, Manuel rated it really liked it.

Whereas another feature of the novel — neumzn dislocated nature of Wandernburg, which constantly changes latitude and longtidue — seems stylistically anachronistic. I don’t know what happens after that; there may be a sort of thinly spread murder or political plot I didn’t manage to follow, or indeed some magic involved.

I suppose Neuman does get around to that later, but he’d lost me by that point. But it is also hard.
I’ve put this novel aside. If you’re really, really, really into 19th century politics, literature, poetry and philosophy then this book is an absolute treat.

Moved by the music, he approaches the man, giving him some money. Neuman spends a fair amount of time talking about translation and his interest in the subject is quite deep. Apart from the poetry, which i skipped i must confess, i found the book entertaining nevertheless, and even though it left me with more questions unanswered, i finished it with a good feeling. Not that I want or can comment on much of the literary “influences” or neumsn that shaped Neuman’s past andrws present work, but it reads and feels like the wind throughout the book that alters shapes and perception.
