He had a moment with Lily toward the end of the book after a certain event has taken place that was both revealing and uncomfortable. I was also surprised at the direction that Mortal Danger took and like I keep saying, it’s a good thing when the book that you’re reading manages to surprise you.

Three-and-a-half stars, rounding down to eileeb some kind of obvious difference between the four-star book that preceded this Tempting Danger and the one that followed Blood Lines. It began close to where the first one left off. The way this book unfolded was quite surprising. We cut away for a eielen. I didn’t really picture quite that happening when I started the book–the tone seemed completely different–but I found it to be a very interesting development.

Ensued a thrilling fight scene with Benedict, a whole pack of wolves, gang members and a mad Harlowe casting magic with the staff. They are definitely worth checking out. Oh, and if you haven’t read the first one, you might not wish to read this review because I need to bring up things from the first story. Rule, her mate, finds her desire to be more independent disturbing and wonders how to make her more comfortable with all the strings that come with the arrangement.

They’re a very secretive bunch, as a result of their persecution in the past, and I keep reading because I want to know more about them. This world is building,baby! Yu here has already heard all my stories, and the strain of trying to look interested is wearing her out. In fact, I’d say there were moments that shone.

It was so exciting and interesting and different! As I continue reading Eileen Wilks’ books, let’s see if I can try to convince more readers to pick them up too.

Eileen has lived in the West Texas town of Midland, TX for over 30 years–three years as a young teen, and the remaining years since she moved back here as an adult. It just doesn’t quite draw my attention like other series have and I’m not really sure why. The series is amazing, and the slow reveal of the world-building seems to mimic the slow romance of the mating of Lily and Rule.

Very little sex in this book, but something even better — a closer relationship forms, with deepening trust. I really liked how the author had Lily feel insecure about Rule’s acceptance of fidelity. And then the unthinkable happens.
