A decent little read for fans of the author – atmospheric, exciting and easy to get through in one sitting. I’m quite glad Zfaon did, as The Midnight Palace is much better than its predecessor. I’ve read all of Zafon’s previous works, and always, the part which I look forward to – the best thing about his novels, for me – is the suspense. Raised in an orphanage in Calcutta, Ben has relied on the support of his close knit group of friends and the kindness of the Headmaster.
