After LASIK, we get a probationary medical clearance for two years and then after that they just treat your eyes as anyone else without glasses. Good to know it isn’t a big deal. Certain questions, such as “how do I become a pilot” and the like have been asked repeatedly in the past.

Had Lasik done on a Thursday, drove 4 hours home the next day. To those of you who have done this, do you hear anything back from the FAA after you send in the forms?
My vision is great and there were no complications, but I would say my night time vision is not quite there yet.

I had lasik years before I went in for my medical; I disclosed it to the AME and he didn’t ask for anything before issuing my medical. These requirements are not difficult to meet with a little help from your optometrist. First post op was on Monday in the morning, and I was cleared to work that afternoon. This is true for all three classes of medical certificate.

Last week, at my first post-op check, I took the FAA Lasik brochure and forms with me so I could talk about it with the surgeon.
We have to get the same form sent out to be able to work again and my LASIK doc sent it in after my five day post op with no issues. It definitely shouldn’t take a month to go through unless caa there are some weird issues. Place them in front of your regular sunglasses and accept the fact that you will look ffaa to people you may meet along the way.
The form they have your eye dr fill out is comical. You will find many answers to questions you may have, such as how to become a pilot. If you are about to post something that involves the exchange of goods or services for money, run it by the mods first.
Pilots flying with 1st or 2nd class certificates and private insurance should investigate this option. Again, you want maximum light transmission. As we age, cloudiness often appears and then becomes greater and greater. This includes requests for donations.
