Of the stories contained herein, only a few are of the kind that you, as the reader, try to guess “who done it” before it’s revealed at the end. It gets dragged down by his inane forwards, his cringy attempts at humour, and his love of puns.

This is also the reason why I love mysteries for you never know what awaits you at the end of the tale. Overall a good collection of short stories with a couple duds.

campsna There were a couple stories ‘Obituary’ and ‘The Billard Ball’ that really caught my attention and I found to be very interesting but mostly I was like, ehh. Hmm, not bad I guess.

The stories are more or less very simple in their structure. Most of Asimov’s popularized science books explain scientific concepts in a historical way, going as far back as possible to a time when the science in question was at its simplest stage.

I am not sure why, but I have never read any Asimov books before. All in all, worth reading for sci-fi fans.

This short story collection was a mixed bag, and not up to Asimov’s usual standards. Asimov wrote the Lucky Starr series of juvenile science-fiction novels using the pen name Paul French. Worth a read for those who enjoy sci-fi mystery.

Professor Urth is a veritable 23rd century Sherlock Holmes, with a phobia of travel to boot. Not even Multivac was enough to save this one.

And I ended up liking Urth quite a lot. The four stars are for originality and readability.

Todo lo que puedo decir es: While there isac indeed a mystery agmoniosa to all of these stories, I would say I always like it when I find a book that mixes two of my favorite genres, in this case science fiction and mystery.

These stories are some of the best Asimov ever wrote. Clearly the standout of the collection – I’d put it up there with Asimov’s best work. Five of the stories involve the recurring characters of H. Two characters tend to repeat through most of the stories.
