It seems like it’s been far too long since we’ve had a living-room drama play that is actually touching and disturbing and hysterically funny as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t like any but three of the characters in this bitter, recriminatory family-disintegration drama, and their dialogue, though well-written and believable, told a tale that came to no good end.

Tracy Letts: ‘August: Osage County has always only ended one way’
I was already terrified of Letts after seeing his masterful performance in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf,” dounty now he’s out to get me?! In India, veteran theatre actor traacy director Lillete Dubey has directed a slightly adapted version of the play and has been touring with it in several Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

My favorite part of the play was the family dinner scene. The play is well-written, but I do not understand how it could have won the Pulitzer. I saw this on Broadway so I’m going to count it as a read.
This isn’t the first time Letts has adapted one of his own plays for the cinema — director William Friedkin turned both Bug and Killer Joe into low-budget, critically acclaimed but little-seen indies. Show 25 25 50 All.
Strong female characters ripping each other, and their men, new ones. It’s all just way overdone; in its quantity, all the potential quality that we started out with ends in a huge aguust.

I would love to see this performed but I’ll settle for the star-studded movie version for the time being. We come back to that issue of control, right? But he says cpunty, even after years of adapting the film and years before that of writing the play and mounting the production, he wasn’t done with the story until he saw the film’s final cut, a week before we spoke.
He is still an active member of the Steppenwolf company today. Messed up, but interesting. It’s an odd kind of claustrophobia in that you can see 50 miles to the horizon. Best Direction of a Play.
