Forevef so a novel of strong friendships, largely lacking the ‘frienemies’ so typical of this genre, which I thought both refreshing and admirable Still, I think Brashares did a good job of wrapping up the series perhaps a tad too neatly and I’m glad she wrote the fourth.
A lot of the things we had actually already been through in previous books, so I was underwhelmed. The sense of cohesion is superficial–the only thing that seems to connect them is that everyone looks good in them. Like many young adults, they are also learning much more about foreger and facing painful realizations from their pasts, often with tears but also self-acceptance.

And love is a thing that can never go wrong: Nine months have passed since the previous summer and the girls find themselves once again apart and meeting new people and in some cases leaving people behind.
