I love the film, but hate this dang book! I loved the movie with Tom Hanks, so thought the book would be excellent. Oh, and he plays harmonica better than the most soulful and lost prisoner. I loved the movie, but, after reading the book, I see now that the author, Winston Groom, was going for more of a modern retelling of G Forrest Gump is one of those books that I’ve always wanted to read but worried that I’d seen the movie too many times to approach the story with fresh eyes.

By the time Forrest is sixteen years old, he is 6′ 6″ 1. While at one restaurant frequented by celebrities, Wniston and his son are talked up by one young celebrity filming Big who makes remarks such as “life is a box of chocolates” or “stupid is as stupid does”, which both Forrest Sr.

I read this book after watching the movie, and learned how vastly different it was from the cinematic version.

To be fair, I think that the only scene in the book that I found forgest quite amusing was when Forrest got into the Apollo Ghmp Program, since that particular scene isn’t in the film adaptation, therefore I have nothing to compare to it.

Forrest Gump Accolades. The ultimate chapter deals with Forrest arguing with Forrest Jr. The movie is pretty good groo, the fact that the book is an abomination.

Dan sells off his share of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in order to fund a swanky retirement, and the company endures labor disagreements. I used quoting marks on the word adaptation, since book and film couldn’t be more different! So the following text contains spoilers comparing the film with the book Lkbro the other wineton, the book lost me with a few of the adventures that were simply too outlandish to possibly believe. Forrest is also given an attractive brunette secretary. Don’t get me wrong, the film adaption is one of my favorite movies of all time- that’s precisely why I wanted to give the book a try, because the book’s always better than the movie, right?
The supporting characters and their interactions with Forrest are poorly drawn- it’s also a very perverse book, which I don’t mind, if placed properly, but the author pibro doesn’t know how to control a genre. While the book and movie had many similarities with some slight differences there was some things that started happening about halfway through the book that were just weird and made no sense whatsoever to me. I was a bit horrified to read about Forrest going into the boxing ring wearing a diaper- there were also a few other scenes I’d rather not go into in case someone actually wants to give this book a stab.
Forrest accidentally crashes the tanker when trying to subdue McVicker. Gump is portrayed as viewing the world simply and truthfully.
Refresh and try again. By chance Forrest also runs into Mr. The film has a devoted following but its far from a faithful adaption of the source material and proves hollywood exploit writers given the chance. I am very curious to see how the book was adapted into the movie — I mean what parts were changed and how Sue was portrayed in the movie.
Packed full of laughs, poor Forest just can’t do anything right. In between misadventures, he manages to compare battle scars with Lyndon Johnson, discover the truth about Richard Nixon, and survive the ups and downs of remaining true to his only love, Jenny, on an extraordinary journey through gu,p decades of the American cultural landscape.
