Kids reading this book might just be inspired to create their own messy and magical worlds. I always loved Jillian as a kid because she was having so much fun and Jilloan love her even more as an adult because she is such a free jillixn. And that’s how I came to write my first book, The Balloon Tree. My Jilloan gave me this book as a gift when I was young and I had it memorized in a week! That took fifteen years and umpty zillion rejection slips to accomplish.
What can I tell you about myself? I don’t know what the draw was, but I’m pretty sure I either thought I was Jillian Jiggs or I desperately wanted to be her. This book was one of my favorites as a kid, sometimes I like to read again once in while. When everybody mispronounced her name, my editor at Scholastic, suggested that the G’s be changed to J’s. Now you jiggss call a girl Gregory, can you?
I will always read Jillian Jiggs to my students! And that’s how I came to write my first book, The Balloon Tree. Gilman taught for fifteen years at the Ontario College of Art. When her balloon burst on a tree branch, I wished the tree would magically sprout balloons. Her pigs are awesome!

Not that I’m playing lots of make believe games, but why is literally everything ever more interesting and engaging than cleaning.
The rhyming of the last word of every line with the previous line adds a rhythm to the book. Jillian Jiggs rushes from game to game. I prefer the words to the pictures, which is a little odd since I think of myself as an artist rather than a writer. No trivia or quizzes yet.
