LOL Anyway, another stellar tindwri in a wonderful series. I know I was supposed to find him charming and quirky, and appreciate another detective at odds with his superiors.
He vomited gjta whiskey he’d just drunk, vomited what he’d eaten that day as well as what he’d eaten the day before, and the day before that, and he felt, with his sweaty head now entirely inside the toilet bowl and a sharp pain in his side, as if he were lla vomiting up the entire time of his life on pa, going all the way back to the pap he was given as a baby, and when, at last, he’d expelled his own mother’s milk, he kept vomiting poison bitterness, bile, pure hatred.
In Camilleri published the first in a long series of novels: Beatrice Di Leo Costantino Carrozza It seems that most of the series books that I read have strong, likeable, morally-rewarding men as their main character.
Montalbano is a likeable character and, while the pace is slow, the plots are usually satisfying. Camilleri also continues his well-defined sense of place that runs through the prior installments of this series, augmented by the richness of personalities and food found in the area.
However this one left me desiring a little more, the plot was just OK for me; not bad, but not great either. An elderly couple take a bus tour but disappear from the bus at some point.
The novel showcases what Andrea Camilleri can do gindari character development. Johnson rated it really liked it Recommended to M.
The dialogue is fast, snappy, and lines you can see said in front of you. From to Camilleri studied stage and film direction at the Silvio D’Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts, and began to take on work as a director and screenwriter, directing especially plays by Pirandello and Beckett.
I wanted to like this more than I did.

Audiobook version is excellent. A Trip to Tindari 09 May Shortly thereafter another man asks the police for assistance regarding his missing parents, who resided at the same address as the murdered man. Fifth in the Italian police procedural series set in Sicily and featuring Salvo Montalbano, epitome of the grumpy inspector. Director Alberto Sironi achieves some notable visual effects, most notably his penchant for beginning sequences with a pitch-black screen; suddenly a door opens and in comes Montalbano.

Dec 09, Gary rated it it was amazing. All’altro capo ci fu un lungo silenzio. My favourite moments from this one include: Other books in the series. I enjoyed this more than the others in this series. Montalbano thinks the two cases are related, but has to interview a bus load of Sicilian senior citizens to get to the bottom of it. Montalbano’s highly imperfect character Un giallo di facile lettura, nonostante ricco di termini dialettali. I was just left feeling confused how conclusions were reached, and why something’s were even addressed.
