What I found concerned the title “khedive”. Meu primeiro livro de Modiano. Nov 23, Kenneth Shersley rated it really liked it. Not every book by an important writer is an important book. Books by Patrick Modiano. The book ends with this, as the main character is chased towards Switzerland, his head every so often hitting the steering wheel because he is falling asleep: Vague Visages on Facebook. Night Rounds is not an easy book. When I came to the end, I realized what I had experienced.

The story unfolds as a tapestry of events that may have or may not have occurred. For such a short book there is a large cast of very bizarre characters, all pretty repugnant.
All those faces should be preserved, engagements kept, promises upheld. Not always sure what the heck w Confusing. He won’t understand the first thing about this story. It’s one that I definitely want to read again. This is the first book like that I’ve had trouble following.

Want to Read Currently Reading Read. I rather think this characterless, faceless narrator, because he has no moral compass, is equally evil. Vibrant et efficace, comme d’habitude. Although not as fully realised or fun as Moravia’s novel, it remains an important part of Modiano’s scratching of the scabs that have never quite healed when it comes to the complicity and opportunism of ordinary French people during that dark period.
