Also, I have read that bipolar motors usually have only four wires. Could this be a flawed datasheet?

M42SP-4 datasheet – 5w. Then, I think color referring to coils are m422sp exact, may be. I am taking this to mean that it is a bipolar motor as Nigel suggested earlier. I saw that it said unipolar also, but I would think that it should act differently on a tester if it was a unipolar.

Since you’re kinda new to the whole stepper motor thing, here’s a link I supplied for an earlier post in one of the other forums.

Stepping motor: mitsumi M42SP-5A

Hi, do u have a datasheet for the m42sp-4np? Is this a bipolar motor? I am probably misunderstanding the whole pricliple horribly, so please feel free to correct me. I think it does a pretty good job in describing what steppers are, how 5x work, etc. Don’t know for sure, so keep trying. Monday, April 22, Wiring Mitsumi stepper M42sp-4np with arduino.

Brent, If you look at the data sheet page two, line seven, you’ll see that it mentions “unipolar”. The four wires are all connected as a 4 wire ribbon. Hi, i have made a similar project with M35SP-9 Mitsumi http: Why would there only be 4 wires? Media New media New comments Search media. It got me up and running right away. As far as I could tell by reading the datasheet, the motors are unipolar, 4 phase.

Yeah I understand what you’re saying.

Trouble is, the datasheet see snippet below indicates that there are both 12 and 24 VDC versions of this motor, yet there are no voltage indications on the motor itself. This is the best tutorial I’ve seen.

You must log in or register to reply here. Stepper motors have 4 or more wires going into them.

Instead the resistance reading go to zero or infinity. Despite the modest body size o. Welcome to our site! Where would the center taps be? Replacing a 4 pin leaded inductor with a 2 pin Started by gkmaia Yesterday at Forums New posts Search forums.

Typically these motors do not settle down and display a constant ohm value. I have searched all over the internet. If this will be a CNC type machine you will be better off in the long run to use a real stepper driver IC to drive the motor. With superior running noiselessness and other features, this model motor is the most suited to future, compact electronic equipment.
